And finally, it includes the entirety of the New World, in all its detailed glory. It also has a neat narrative, with cutscenes and cinematics, which i feel is something that's really missing from ME. The gameplay is also a lot quicker, with fewer factions, shorter turn times, possibly more frequent fights. Out of my 2.6k hrs of gameplay, i'd say 80% is in ME. Usually playing Mortal Empires in game#2 should be the better choice, even if the turntime might drive you nuts.
You certainly miss out on a few balancing updates. While you also just could get back to playing game#1 instead, if you just want the Old World races and a smaller map, Greenskin rework comes in 2020, so I would probably not play them right now because they are in a not so good state right now. The map just got biggerĪnd some of the Old World races like Dwarfs, Empire & Vampire counts had already upgrades/reworks so they function better then back in game#1. Mortal Empire is the classic sandbox mode you might know from game#1. Participating with the rituals and getting "ghost stacks" of intervention armies stuffed in your face is also a very wonky part of the whole Vortex race I dislike Problem is that your army must be up to the task then, which still produces some time factured pressure in how you play. You either win a prevention battle against them then, or plainly lose. or, if you ignore the race it will put you to the test when the other races reach the end. It might push you to lead the race for winning, which might result in a more hectict gameplay. The actual bad thing is imo the Vortex race for the four core races. You also have a storydriven aspect, which will be enforced with cutscenes. Which makes the turntimes definitly shorter. The good things about a Vortex campaign would be a smaller map So if your main appeal would be to play an Old World faction, you kinda might have no choice here anyway.
